Preston 1-3 Burnley

IMG_0578BST got there 09/10 IFA League campaign of to a superb start with a hard fought but thoroughlly deserved 3-1 victory over Lancashire rivals PNE B. Following the early set back of full back Raz having to go in net after 20 minutes BST made the breakthrough with Marv Heys scoring on the opening day of the season for the 2nd year running following his goal at Chester last season. Clarets quickly raced into a 2-0 lead with new boy Matty scoring a sweat left footed goal that now put BST on the verge of winning against North End for the first time.

The message from Greaves was more of the same in the 2nd half, the half started more evenly than the 1st with PNE throwing everything they had at a solid BST defence marshalled superbly by Rob and Marv with Jonnie and Andy Wilson mopping up on the wings. Last seasons 34 league goal striker Ric Davies finally got his name on the score sheet with 15mins to go, with probably his hardest chance of the day. BST had further chacnes to add to the lead with Ged Ish forcing a good save from the PNE goalkeeper. North End got bck into the game late on with a well taken free kick that left Raz with no chance.

My personal man of the match was Tom Wilson, becoming the “Graham Alexander” of the Fans Team, superb performance. Special mention to Raz for stepping up and going in net when I had to go off.

Sponsorship off to flying start

willThe response to the 2009/10 player sponsorship scheme so far has been fantastic.  Only a couple of days in, 10 players have sponsors alongside their name already, with promise of more to come in the next few days.

We must pass on our great thanks to Accy Clarets, Clarets Mad, Reb, Golazzo and Vital Burnley who have all signed up to the scheme already for the coming season, alongside myself.

And our two internationals, captain Will O’Neill and last season’s top-scorer Ric Davies are still available for sponsor.

Kev Robinson said “We are delighted to have all our sponsors on board for the new season, and cannot stress enough how appreciated their support is.”

For more information on how to get involved in the scheme for just £20 click the link below.
